Earth Day is officially in April, but at Soule Homestead Education Center in Middleboro, the event will be held rain or shine today. There will be activities and programs on a wide variety of practices pertaining primarily to sheep farming, shearing, and the processing of wool. Ongoing demonstrations will include spinning, weaving, rug hooking and rug braiding. Activities especially for children are washing fleece, carding, spinning and felting wool, along with making crafts using wool and recycled materials. The day will also include a variety of handcrafts made by local artisans and locally grown perennial plants for sale. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. Admission is $5 per adult; $2 per child (under 12 years); children under 3 free. Soule Homestead is located at 46 Soule Street in Middleboro. Head to Plymouth for the County Farm Spring Fling today from 10am to 1pm rain or shine. Kids arts & crafts, bird houses, petting zoo, New England Wildlife Reptile Show, woodcarving exhibit, and fingerprinting for kids. The Sheriff invites everyone to spend a day visiting the farm. More than 75,000 grasses, herbs, and vegetables to purchase just in time for Mother’s Day. The Plymouth County Farm & Horticulture Center is located at 24 Obery Street in Plymouth.
