Travel back in time to where the simple joys of the season abound. It’s Olde World Christmas at the Plimoth Grist Mill! The miller and his wife have decked the halls with traditional greenery and twinkling lights. A charming Christmas story unfolds as you tour the mill and discover some traditions of long ago…the holly and the ivy, sugar plums, warm cider and gingerbread, roasted chestnuts, carol singing and ringing sleigh bells. Experience the magical sights and tastes and sounds of an old world Christmas at the Mill. All aboard the Polar Express! The South Shore Polar Express departs the Kingston MBTA and heads to Halifax and back at 11:45 am, 1:45 pm and 7:15 pm (4pm train is sold out)! This fun and exciting train ride features a reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s classic Polar Express along with chefs serving hot cocoa, elves distributing gift bags for each child and a special visit from Santa! Kids are encouraged to wear their jammies over their clothes! Tickets are $20 each and family discount packs are available. It’s Kingston’s annual Luminary Display kicking off with the tree lighting and caroling at 6pm on the Town Green by the Old Town House on Green Street. Open houses at churches, the Adams Center and the Surprise Hose House will go until 8:30 pm.
Holiday’s in Halifax is happening today from 4pm-8pm in the center of town. Take in the Christmas musical performances at 4:15 at the elementary school, handbell ringers at congregational church at 5:30, holiday violin music at Holmes church at 6:00. Stroll through the town’s historical buildings and let the kids enjoy bouncy houses, hayrides and Santa! At 7:00, Twas the Night before Christmas will be read at the library, and fireworks cap off the night at 8:15. Don’t forget to check out the firehouse chili cook-off from 5-7 at the firehouse too!
