Looking for some winter fun for the family? The South Shore Natural Science Center has some great Drop-in events for the whole family in February! Today from 10:30am to 3:30pm, join in for Winter Discovery Day.  You’ll conduct snow and ice experiments, try out snowshoes, and look for animal tracks in the snow.  Free with admission. Whooo lurks in the night on the trails of the South Shore Natural Science Center? Join John Galluzzo as he kicks off a night of owl fun through the woods in search of Eastern -screech and Great Horned Owls. Bring flashlights and dress for the February cold! The event kicks off tonight at 7 at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell. The event is recommended for children ages 8 and up. The cost is $8 for non-members. Head to Hull for the Hull Lifesaving Museum’s Scientist Saturday today! The Hull crew will be joined by crew members from Air Station Cape Cod. Crew members will give a presentation on Coast Guard aviation, air craft and rescue methods. The event takes place at Point Allerton Station in Hull at 2pm. All are welcome. This event is recommended for children 5 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is FREE, but donations are welcome. For more information, call 781-925-5433.

10 a.m. Painted with Tradition – earn your painter badge. Create a leather pouch and design it yourself. Personalize your design to express something about yourself. Learn about why bags and pouches were important in Wampanoag life. Also learn how paints were made in the 17th century, where they came from and why the designs are important for tribal citizens.

11:30 a.m.  Behind the Scenes Museum Tour

1 p.m.  Boating and fishing, Wampanoag-Style – earn your net making badge. Living on Cape Cod and the Islands for thousands of years, the Wampanoag were very much a coastal nation reliant on the Atlantic for travel, trade, and food. Come be immersed in the tools, techniques and boat making processes that were used off these shores. Learn about net making and work with your team to create a full-sized net.
