The James Library & Center for the Arts in Norwell is hosting a Creative Kids Art Series on Saturdays in January for kids ages 8 – 14. Each session is from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and the event is very popular there is just one day of classes that has open seating: Saturday, January 14. James Library Art Director Lisa Flynn, along with local award-winner artist Karen Baker will be running the program. Kids will work on their own pieces, creating a book of gelatin prints, collages, and fish print t-shirts. At the end of the series some of the artwork will be displayed at the James! Looking for some Friday night fun with the family? Put on your woolies and enjoy a moonlit winter evening at North River Wildlife Sanctuary to explore the trails in search of owls and other nocturnal wildlife. Learn how animals adapt to winters harsh conditions and what makes the creatures of the night so special. Bring out your family’s wild side for an adventure under the Full Wolf Moon! It’s time to read to Boo today at the Hingham Public Library 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Boo is a Shih Tzu, Dash is Great Dane and Luke is a Labradoodle and they are all wonderful, patient listeners who take turns getting read to. Today is Boo’s day for a reading session – reading sessions are 15 minutes and suitable for children ages 4 and up. It’s a winter discovery day at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell today. This drop in program is for all ages and runs from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. It’s a day of hands on exploration, celebrating the season. Dress for the weather! Free with admission.
The Children’s Museum in Easton celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with family-friendly hands-on activities celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. You’ll also be working together with the staff on a community art project to fulfill his vision for a better America. The museum is open 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and the special activities today run from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The South Shore Children’s Museum in Hanover presents their 7th annual Diversity Day from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Hanover Mall. It’s a day of free performances featuring the Wampanoag Nation storytellers, singers and dancers, Filipino American dancers, Egyptian belly dancers and a Chinese ribbon dance.
