Celebrate the Year of the Rooster at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with free admission all day long from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.! Explore Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese art and traditions while enjoying activities, demonstrations, and performances throughout the day. Go on a tour or talk highlighting works of art in the Art of Asia galleries; tours will be available in English, American Sign Language and Mandarin. Drop in on hands-on art-making activities to create your own masterpieces to take home—including printmaking and bok jumani. Watch exciting presentations of of Gong-Fu, Chinese martial arts, and participate in an interactive demonstration of Saebae, a Korean New Year’s ceremony. Learn about the various traditions and celebrations of Tet, the Vietnamese New Year, through personal stories, demonstrations, and enjoy a variety of musical and dance performances throughout the Museum—including Lion dances performed by Gund Kwok Asian Women’s Lion & Dragon Dance Troupe!
It’s time for Saturday Science…Beyond Einstein! Today’s topic at the Hingham Public Library is Physics and today’s featured scientist is Chien-Shiung Wu. Today’s guest speaker (TBA) will introduce kids ages K-3 to Chien-Shiung Wu with a brief presentation and will be followed by making your own catapult and conducting an experiment with distance using different objects! Reservations are necessary so the library can be sure enough materials are on hand. You can call 781.741.1405 x1403 to register for this program which runs from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
