Spring Northeast Com!c-Con and collectibles extravaganza hits the Hanover Mall this weekend. There will be comics, toys, arts, records, video games, table top games and chances to meet pop icons including Adam West and Burt Ward who are on their 50th anniversary of the Bat Man TV show tour. It’s time to read to Dash today at the Hingham Public Library 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Boo is a Shih Tzu, Dash is a Great Dane and Luke is a Labradoodle and they are all wonderful, patient listeners who take turns being read to. Today is Dash’s day for a reading session – reading sessions are 15 minutes and suitable for children ages 4 and up. Today’s Hingham Public Library Saturday Science…Beyond Einstein topic is Chemistry and the featured scientist is Dorothy Hodgkin. Today’s special activity is experimenting with baking soda and with assorted candies in cola soda. The Saturday in Science…Beyond Einstein program is the brainchild of two Hingham moms with a goal of introducing kids to science with an emphasis on women and minority contributors. There will be a brief introduction to the “featured” scientist beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by hands on craft or activity. This program is perfect for children ages K -3. Reservations are necessary for materials planning and are class specific and a parent/guardian must remain in the children’s department while the child participates in the program. Head to the Merry Room of the Duxbury Free Library on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. for the music of Otha Day and his program, Drum to the Beat! When Otha Day is in town, the drumming begins! Otha facilitates fun and lively drum/rhythm circle events from the deep belief that rhythm has the power to build community, promote well-being and create joy.
