Saturday and Sunday head to the South Shore Model Railway Club & Museum at Bare Cove Park in Hingham for the model railroad show & open house! Saturday the event runs from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Train Club will host the clubs permanent layout with visiting layouts from other clubs, white elephant table, demonstration clinics, rail movies, club car sales and club shirts and other apparel for sale. There will be food service and train dealer tables too. The parking is free and admission tickets are good for both days. It’s another Saturday adventure with the North River Wildlife Sanctuary’s South Shore Explorations program. Today’s destination is Moose Hill in Sharon. You’ll meet at the sanctuary by 9:00 a.m. and take a van to Moose Hill, Mass Audubon’s oldest Wildlife Sanctuary. Plan for a moderate hike to the bluffs to soak in the amazing panoramic views – bring a picnic! This program is appropriate for all ages and the cost is $18 for adult members, $22 for adult non-members, $14 for member children and $17 for children non-members. The South Shore Community Action Council is hosting an Early Childhood Fair at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the South Shore YMCA’s Hanover branch from 10:00 a.m. – noon. This is a free event for all families with young children. Crafts, activities, and Big Ryan’s Tall Tales are part of the day. It’s Maple Day at the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell! Drop in anytime from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and join the team as they explore maple history, culture and production. Enjoy the process from start to finish as you help tap the trees for sap and then watch how it is boiled into syrup! The day will include scheduled woodland walks for tree tapping, sweet treats, fun crafts and lots of hands-on activities!
