From 9:00 a.m. – noon learn to track footprints at the North Hill Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Duxbury. One of the coolest things about animal tracking is the evidence it uncovers of how active our neighbors are. After snow falls, it takes little time for all creatures great and small to create mosaics of footprints that tell their stories of daily life. Kids ages 10-18 will spend the morning with teacher naturalist Doug Lowry being sleuths revealing the modus operandi of our furred and feathered friends of the winter in the Tracking: footprint mysteries and telltale signs program through Mass Audubon. Meet at the North Hill Marsh Sanctuary main parking lot on Mayflower Street in Duxbury. Registration is required by calling 781.837.9400 or visiting online. The cost is $12 for adult members, $8 for child members, $15 for adult nonmembers and $11 for child nonmembers. http://www.massaudubon.org/get-outdoors/program-catalog#program:program_code=49796

For kids ages 16 and older head to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton for Ukrainian-Style egg decorating from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Instructor Martha Sulya is on hand to teach a traditional wax resist method of decorating eggs as practiced by the Ukrainian people. Using a metal stylus, which is heated in an open candle flame, thin layers of beeswax are applied to the egg shell before dipping it into brilliant liquid dyes. The wax protects the surface so that multiple colors can be applied. To finish, the wax is melted off to reveal a spectrum of color and pattern. The cultural meaning of traditional motifs will be explained and demonstrated but the focus of the class is on technique. Eggs and all other materials will be provided by the museum. Eggs will be available to take home the same day. The cost is $50 for members and $75 for nonmembers. http://fullercraft.org/event/ukraninian-style-egg-decorating/
