America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration kicks off Friday night with a free concert at Memorial Hall at 7:00 p.m. featuring the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Opening ceremonies Saturday morning take place at 10:30 a.m. and the Thanksgiving parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. Throughout the day there will be waterfront activities, the New England Food Festival, a portal to the past historical village and Wampanoag Educational Pavilion. Illuminate Thanksgiving is now being held indoors at the First Parish Church in Plymouth, 19 Town Square, at 4:00 p.m. The day ends with the National Senior & Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps reunions concert at 6:30 p.m. On Sunday more waterfront activities at 11, the harvest market from 11 – 4 and the Wampanoag Educational Pavilion from 11-4.  http://usathanksgiving.com/


Saturday, November 18, 2017:


Head to the Hingham Public Library to read to Luke! Keep your reading skills sharp by reading to a gentle and charming Goldendoodle. Luke is a certified reading and therapy dog and is available for 15 minute sessions from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Please call to schedule your reading session which is perfect for kids ages 4 and older. 781.741.1405 x1403.


And while you’re at the Hingham Library head to the Whiton Room and join along with Mama Steph for songs, puppets and storytelling from 10:30 a.m. – 11:15!


The South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell hosts STEMsational Superstars today from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. It’s an exciting day of science explorations where you get to meet local women scientists and engineers. Through hands-on activities you can learn about the cool things they do at work! Great for ages 3 and older, and free with center admission.

Been to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton? Children under 12 are admitted for free and everyone is admitted for free Thursdays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for Brockton residents! www.fullercraft.org 


The Children’s Museum in Boston costs $1 to enter Fridays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.! Current exhibits include Explore-a-Saurus where you can assume the role of scientist and explore the evidence, the science and the features that make dinosaurs so compelling. You can touch and measure a fossil footprint and learn what clues it gives about a dinosaur’s size. You can manipulate a full-size model and learn how they moved and rearrange bone puzzles to learn about dinosaur anatomy.
