The Brockton Fair runs through Sunday, July 8th.  It’s one of America’s oldest fairs with thrilling rides, demolition derby, live music (8pm nightly), fireworks and more! Friday, July 6:

Pilgrim Hall Museum is participating in the Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays program which means admission is free today! Boston Children’s Museum, Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis, Battleship Cove in Fall River, Falmouth Museums on the Green and the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell are all free today! http://www.highlandstreet.org/programs/free-fun-fridays

 

Friday morning story time at the Paragon Carousel takes place today promptly at 10:30 a.m. and the carousel opens at 10:00 a.m. today. Princess Ariel kicks off the story telling summer season! The event is free and guests may purchase ride tickets to join Ariel on the carousel after the story.

 

 

Saturday, July 7:

It’s open barnyard time at Weir River Farm in Hingham! Nutmeg the pony, Billy the goat and the other barnyard regulars are excited to see you at the farm! You can brush a goat, make a barnyard craft, pet a chicken and more! You can talk to a friendly farmer and learn more about life on the farm. You can also take a walk on one of the many trails and experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer. You can visit the barnyard every Saturday – rain or shine – from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Park at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. The 2018 Duxbury Family Fun Day on the Beach is underway today from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Join teacher naturalist John Tinker and learn how to use a compass and search for buried treasure. Bezels, meridian lines and bearing galore. No need to register, just head to the beach!

 

The Fantastic Firefly Festival is tonight from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the North River Wildlife Sanctuary in Marshfield. Join South Shore Sanctuaries Staff and firefly aficionado and Science Educator Don Salvatore for a full evening of fun. With games, activities, crafts and demonstrations, all ages will find something to enjoy. You’ll learn more about these fascinating fliers and Mass Audubon’s involvement in the Firefly Watch project, where you can learn how to identify and count resident fireflies for the International Firefly Watch. The cost is $8 for adult members and $5 for kid members; $10 for adult non-members and $7 for kid non-members. Ongoing Ideas

Been to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton? Children under 12 are admitted for free and everyone is admitted for free Thursdays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for Brockton residents! www.fullercraft.org 

 

The Children’s Museum in Boston costs $1 to enter Fridays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.! Current exhibits include Explore-a-Saurus where you can assume the role of scientist and explore the evidence, the science and the features that make dinosaurs so compelling. You can touch and measure a fossil footprint and learn what clues it gives about a dinosaur’s size. You can manipulate a full-size model and learn how they moved and rearrange bone puzzles to learn about dinosaur anatomy.
