Friday, August 24:

Admission is free to the Cape Cod Children’s Museum, as part of the Highland Street Foundations program offering no-cost admission to many cultural hot spots across the state. Other gems that are free today include The Hull Lifesaving Museum, the Heritage Museums & Gardens, Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, among others. Friday morning story time at the Paragon Carousel takes place today promptly at 10:30 a.m. and the carousel opens at 10:00 a.m. today. Snow White will be the storyteller today! The event is free and guests may purchase ride tickets to join Snow White on the carousel after the story.

 

Saturday, August 25:

It’s open barnyard time at Weir River Farm in Hingham! Nutmeg the pony, Billy the goat and the other barnyard regulars are excited to see you at the farm! You can brush a goat, make a barnyard craft, pet a chicken and more! You can talk to a friendly farmer and learn more about life on the farm. You can also take a walk on one of the many trails and experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer. You can visit the barnyard every Saturday – rain or shine – from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Park at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. Cost is $5 for member kids and $10 for nonmember kids – adults are admitted for free.

 

Duxbury Beach family fun on the beach today from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. program will be all about kites and the science of flight! You will build a simple kite as you explore the science of flight. What are the remarkable adaptations birds have developed in order to take flight? This free event is great for kids ages 4 and older.

 

The Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Plymouth invites kids 8 and older, along with their families, for a full moon hike tonight from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. Once dusk has settled over the marsh the moon will light your way as you occasionally stop, look and listen for creatures that awaken with the setting of the sun. You will slow your pace and heighten your senses to experience the sanctuary under the cover of darkness. The cost of this event is $5 for member kids and adults and $7 for non-member kids and adults. You can register online HERE or by calling 508.927.1200

 

Sunday, August 26:

Head to the Paragon Carousel today to celebrate it’s 90th birthday from noon until 3:00 p.m. There will be a special book signing of “Carine the Carousel Horse” and you can meet author Ann G. Been to the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton? Children under 12 are admitted for free and everyone is admitted for free Thursdays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission is free for Brockton residents! www.fullercraft.org 

 

The Children’s Museum in Boston costs $1 to enter Fridays from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.! Current exhibits include Explore-a-Saurus where you can assume the role of scientist and explore the evidence, the science and the features that make dinosaurs so compelling. You can touch and measure a fossil footprint and learn what clues it gives about a dinosaur’s size. You can manipulate a full-size model and learn how they moved and rearrange bone puzzles to learn about dinosaur anatomy.
