Garo Hagopian

Garo Hagopian has been a member of the WATD family as a weekend news anchor since 2008, and has been a writer-producer-editor at WBZ in Boston since 1996.

Before that, Garo was a program director and on-air talent doing commercials and playing music at two radio stations in Atlanta, and also hosted a radio auction program as the Southern Yankee (about which there need be no comment!)

Garo’s first job after graduating from the University of Hartford was as the Production Director and in-house voice talent at Talk America Radio Network.

While in college he hosted a weekly radio show and was a cast member in another, and was among the first TV anchors of the then-fledgling Channel 2 News, which has since become one of the school’s premier attractions for aspiring journalists.

Garo likes “community-driven” radio because he considers it the most effective, far-reaching kind of public service there is.

For several years he has been an actor-director with the annual Radio Classics Live show, which originates from Massasoit Community College in Brockton and is broadcast on WATD.

Garo is a Massachusetts native who currently resides in the Merrimack Valley with his wife.
