in 2013 Steven Dodrill left WATD in pursuit of another career.
Steve’s former bio:
Steven is a member of the WATD news team and works as a full-time News Reporter and News Anchor. He also assumes the duties of Manager of Web and News Services. The 25 year-old Franklin Pierce University graduate adds a blend of new media to the traditional news for WATD listeners over the airwaves, and for the readers on the web.
Dodrill has a vast amount of experience in on-air and online platforms. At Franklin Pierce, Steven worked to introduce new forms of media like YouTube, and Twitter to the Franklin Pierce community.
Steven graduated Cum Laude and with honors in Mass Communication from Franklin Pierce University in May of 2009. Steven focused his education and experience in New Hampshire around sports broadcasting, digital media, broadcast journalism, news, media production, and political reporting.
During his four years in Rindge he contributed a great deal of time to the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication and its political reporting endeavors. He led the center’s coverage of the New Hampshire Primary, partnering with YouTube, while he also provided leadership for the center’s Election Day coverage for Dan Rather Report’s on HDnet.
Steven in 2009 was awarded the Fitzwater Medallion for Contributions to the Public Discourse by Franklin Pierce University, while he has also won four professional broadcasting awards for breaking news, two from the Associated Press, and two from the Radio Television News Director’s Association. He earned two as an intern for WATD back in 2004, for coverage of “A Hole in the Ice,” and most recently in 2008 for coverage of “Scituate Home Explosion.”
In 2004, at the age of 17, during his senior year of high school, Dodrill started as an intern at WATD, he continued working for WATD anchoring weekends and reporting while on summer breaks from Franklin Pierce in 2005, 2006, and 2008.
Dodrill also interned with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summer of 2007, and most recently in the spring of 2009 he completed an internship in the newsroom at WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH.
