Marshfield: First night of town meeting expected to be the beginning of many

The town of Marshfield has jam-packed town meeting and special town meeting warrants, and officials say business could take more than three nights and turn town meeting into a two-week long affair.

Town Administrator Rocco Longo said it would be a miracle if all business got done on Monday night, but said he is hopeful that they will be able to finish the special town meeting warrant tonight, and get started on the annual town meeting warrant.

On Monday night, town meeting voters are expected to look at the school department’s request for approval to go ahead with a feasibility study for a new high school, while the topic of seawalls is also expected to draw some attention.

Marshfield’s town meeting begins Monday, 7 p.m., at the Marshfield High School gym. There will be plenty of overflow seating after the gymnasium fills up, and Longo is urging everyone in town to attend and take part.
