Hingham: Three injured in alleged drunk driving crash

One woman is in serious condition and another in critical condition after an alleged drunk driver crashed into them head-on Sunday night on Rt. 228 in Hingham.

59-year-old Karen Fontana, of Hingham, is in serious condition at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, her passenger, 60-year-old Dorothy Doyle, of Brockton, is in critical condition at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

The pair were in Fontana’s White GMC Envoy when it was hit head-on by a red GMC Sierra truck  driven by 41-year-old William Vonberg IV of Plymouth.

Vonberg was allegedly driving drunk when his truck crossed the center line southbound and hit Fontana’s vehicle.

Vonberg is in serious condition at Boston Medical Center.

Open containers of alcohol were found in Vonberg’s truck.

Vonberg is facing several charges including: OUI alcohol causing serious injury, 2 counts of negligent operation, oui alcohol (1st offense), operating to endanger, driving with an open container of alcohol, marked lanes violation and a seatbelt violation.
