Plymouth: NRC inspectors finish first phase of Pilgrim site visit

A team of inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be returning to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power plant later this month, after they finished the first phase of a site visit to Pilgrim last Friday, trying to determine if Entergy Corporation, which owns the Pilgrim plant, fixed a number of problems that caused the NRC to downgrade the status of the plant.

While the NRC would not reveal its findings from the week-long inspection, that began last Monday, the team of eight federal investigators will return to the Pilgrim plant on November 17 for another set of inspections that could take two weeks to complete. More than eight months ago, federal regulators placed Pilgrim on a list of nuclear power plants deemed to be quote – “degraded”. This was a result of two unplanned shutdowns last year.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time...
