Plymouth: NRC inspectors returning to Pilgrim to continue their site visit

A team of inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is returning to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power plant today.

The team finished the first phase of a site visit to Pilgrim earlier this month.

They are trying to determine if Entergy Corporation, which owns the Pilgrim plant, fixed a number of problems that caused the NRC to downgrade the status of the plant.

The NRC would not reveal its findings from their initial week-long inspection.

More than eight months ago, federal regulators placed Pilgrim on a list of nuclear power plants deemed to be quote – “degraded”. This was a result of two unplanned shutdowns last year.

About David Skill

Dave Skill’s radio career began in the fall of 1964 when he arrived on the campus of Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Dave barely got his bags unpacked when he paid a visit to WCHC, the campus radio station. And, before he knew it, he was spending so much time as a disc jockey and news writer/reporter, it seemed like he was majoring in “radio” and minoring in academics at “The Cross”. As you might imagine, his grades reflected it! During his junior and senior years, he also worked weekends in news and as a disc jockey at WNEB, the CBS radio affiliate in Worcester at the time...
