Goldie’s Hot List ~ Sydney Elizabeth Golf

August 27, 2015 ~ The game of golf sure is a fickle friend – however makin’ a fashion statement out on the links helps to brighten any golf girl’s day!

This week’s MUST HAVE is the Sydney Elizabeth line of women’s golf skirts ~ made in the USA straight outta Nashville, Tennessee

Never one to pass on a super fun, frilly and flirty golf skort or two, Sydney Elizabeth’s bright patterns and perfect hemlines caught my eye and wallet.   I especially like the blue lobster print of the Chesapeake skort or the scallop edged Navy Seersucker skort

Golfer and fashionista Sydney Hudson has been golfing since the age of 7 and played competitively starting at 13, through high school and was awarded a golf scholarship to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee

Upon graduating from Belmont, Sydney with the support of her parents and the ingenuity of her mother’s creative eye decided to start her own golf apparel company catered toward the younger, stylish female golfer.  Her website launched on April 27, 2015 and her ladies skorts and polos have been a huge hit

“Sydney Elizabeth Golf was born out of my frustration to find bright, fun yet functional golf skorts to play in,” said Sydney.  “While I was in the high school my friends, teammates and playing partners and I would resort to wearing tennis skirts to play our matches in, they had pockets and were cute.  Often times, people would mistake us for a tennis team when we went to a restaurant for a bite to eat after practice or a match”

Sydney went on to say, “As soon as we received our uniforms for the year we would immediately seek out the nearest seam stress to alter our hemlines!  Our golf uniforms were so plain, khaki or navy blue with long hemlines”

The youngest of three girls, Sydney told me that she is the “golfer” in the family,  but her grandfather was the one to teach her this magnificent sport.  She instantly fell in love with the game and never looked back.  As a matter of fact Sydney reminisced, “You know, golf was pretty much my boyfriend in high school.  I never really dated much in high school because I was so focused on golf and was always at the golf course on the weekends.”  That being said, Sydney’s recently engaged and excited to plan her dream wedding

Navigating the blossoming Nashville fashion scene through trial and error, Sydney has managed to assemble a wonderful team of local seamstresses, suppliers and mentors

Sydney humbly expressed, “I’ve been so blessed and the people I’ve met, I’ve made some great relationships and contacts just thru my suppliers and manufactures and mentors”

One mentor in particular, Nashville fashion designer Kayce Hughes has been a huge inspiration to Sydney.  Interestingly enough it just so happens Kayce is the niece of prepster legend Lilly Pulitzer

Throughout her design process Sydney imagined the “look of Lilly Pulitzer with the feel of Nike” and her golf skorts integrate fun fabric designs with super comfy spandex inner shorts.   Girly frilly aspects such as lace, bows, scalloped edges and perfect hemlines define the Sydney Elizabeth line of golf skorts.  Versatile, they can even be worn with a pair of snappy sandals and a tee for a girl’s day out to lunch

Sydney has been asked to design custom golf skorts for a number of ladies high school and college golf teams and is a new sponsor for the largest junior golf tour in the United States, The Hurricane Junior Tour which conducts events in over 20 states

Throughout the summer of 2015 Sydney’s been holding Trunk Shows in the Nashville area showcasing her designs and plans to make her debut at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show coming up in January

Thanks to Sydney Elizabeth Golf  young ladies everywhere can rest easy with the knowledge they’ll never experience the frustration of not being able to express their spunky personalities thru their outfits while on the golf course
