A former Marshfield man has been arrested and is being held on $5 million bail in connection with the murder of 43 year old Robert McKenna of Marshfield.

James Ferguson, 40, of Dorchester is scheduled to be arraigned on murder and burglary charges on Monday in Plymouth District Court.

Ferguson was arrested on Saturday night in his Dorchester home.

Investigators say Ferguson is responsible for the murder of McKenna in his home at 190 Damon’s Point Road on Wednesday, September 16th.

McKenna was found dead in his home due to severe cuts to his right upper arm, hands and back of his head.

Crime scene investigators were able to get a DNA match with Ferguson, using evidence from the scene, including clothing, footwear and gloves, as well as evidence gathered nearby, along the suspected route away from the home.

The match was made through the FBI’s Combined Official DNA Index System, or “CODIS.”

This is an ongoing investigation and state police and Marshfield police detectives are asking the public to call them with any information related to this crime.
