Weymouth: Couple Faces Counterfeiting Charges

A Weymouth couple accused of passing some “funny money” around town on New Year’s Day, will appear in Quincy District Court on Monday.

Police were called to the McDonald’s on Main St. and were told by the manager that a man identified as 35-year-old Stanley Wood, tried to use a fake $20 at the restaurant.

Officers confirmed the money was indeed counterfeit and Wood and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Katie Brewster, were arrested after both were found to have phony bills on them.

Investigators say a search of the pair’s motel room uncovered equipment to produce the counterfeit money.

The couple is facing charges including forgery and receiving stolen property.
