Police say there was no direct threat to schools or children in the area, and they used all precautions.

School released at the regular times with state police escorting buses on their routes Thursday afternoon.

Police K9s were tracking the suspects in the area of Route 27 and surrounding areas, where clothing and other items were found behind the Venus III.

Reports have come during the day of breaks or attempted breaks-ins the same area of Hanson and Pembroke. It’s not yet clear if those reported break-ins are related.

At one point during the afternoon, a portion of Route 27 was shutdown with reports of a possible barricaded person in an attic — the road was quickly reopened with no reports of anyone in custody.
