Taunton: Fatal Shooting of Man in Stabbing Rampage Was Justified (In-Studio Interview)

Deputy James Creed

Sheriff’s Deputy James Creed

An off-duty Plymouth County Sheriff’s deputy has been exonerated in fatally shooting a man who killed two people during a random stabbing spree in Taunton.

A report released by the Bristol County DA’s Office found that Sheriff’s Deputy James Creed was justified in using deadly force when he shot 28-year-old Arthur DaRosa on May 10th.

Creed recalled the moment Derosa entered the Bertucci’s restaurant at the Silver City Galleria Mall, where he was dining with his wife, during an interview today with WATD’s Kevin Tocci and Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald:

He credits his training he received from the Sheriff’s Department for guiding him through the situation. As to the release of the report he says…

Plymouth County Sheriff Joe McDonald took a moment to recognize the actions of Creed and his wife Laura, a registered nurse that tended to victims at the scene that night.

The report says Creed fatally shot DaRosa when the suspect refused to comply with orders to drop the knife and continued to advance on him with the weapon.
