Plymouth: Pilgrim Decommissioning Panel Established

Following NRC lingo, it’s called the Pilgrim Decommissioning Panel. Governor Charlie Baker has named its members, including seven Plymouth residents.

Some of them met with Plymouth Selectmen Tuesday night for what they all promised is only the beginning of a relationship.

The panel will follow the model established with the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant decommissioning and will advise the state on what to do after the Plymouth plant stops operations in 2019. Panel members include legislators and plant owner Entergy.

The panel will hold its first public meeting May 24th at 6 p.m. in Plymouth South High School.
