Norwell: Earth Sifter Fire On Route 3

Crews were called to the scene of a fire involving an  “earth sifter” on Route 3 North near Exit 14 in Norwell.

Fire officials tell WATD News that the incident was reported at about 10:50 a.m. Friday

Routine maintenance was being performed and crews were wrapping up their work when the fire broke.

The workers were able to jump to safety.

An explosion did take place as firefighters were knocking the flames down but no injuries were reported.

A mechanical issue is being cited as the cause of the fire.
