Middleboro: (Update: Suspect Found Dead) Reports of Shots Fired at Police, Man Barricades Himself Inside Home

Update at 5:30 from WATD Reporter Lenny Rowe:

Middleboro PD just gave an update and said the suspect at 469 Wareham St. is dead. They say it appears he took his own life. The man was not identified, a press conference is expected soon. 

Update at 2:30 PM:

Police Chief Joseph Perkins says the man shot at police serving a warrant, but no one was struck. Currently police are negotiating with him.


Update at 10:36 AM:

The subject in question is reportedly a 38-year-old male and he has access to one long arm gun and two handguns. Airwing is now on scene overhead. Several State PD units on scene or at the staging area. Local SWAT team is also on scene.

Exit 3 on I-495 is closed in both directions and traffic on Rt. 28 is being diverted away from the scene. 


Original Report at 9:45 AM:

In Middleboro there are reports of shots fired at police at 469 Wareham St. and the subject is reportedly barricaded in the home.

Police have requested SWAT to the scene. Middleborough Police are holding perimeter until SWAT arrives.

Middleborough Police say this is an active incident on Wareham Street, Smith Street to Spruce Street. Any one in the area should SHELTER IN PLACE.

All others please AVOID THE AREA at this time.
