One woman has died after scuba diving off Nantasket Beach Sunday afternoon.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that State Police and Hull Fire were called to the beach shortly after 1 p.m. after receiving calls about a swimmer in distress.

Upon arrival they found the victim, identified as 67-year-old Nancy Siegel of Dedham, who had been pulled from the ocean.

Troopers began performing lifesaving measures and she was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The District Attorney’s Office says Siegel was a certified scuba diver and was at the beach with a group.

Siegel’s equipment was removed from the water and is being examined.

At this time no cause of death has been determined and the incident remains under investigation.
