Little Sandy Bottom Pond in Pembroke is closed to swimming due to high counts of coliform bacteria.

The Town’s Board of Health says that testing showed that the pond has exceeded state limits for coliform bacteria.

Sandy Bottom has exceeded the limit for the bacteria three times during the last five rounds of testing.

Officials say testing for all of the town’s ponds will be conducted once again on June 26 and a determination will be made to either re-open  the public beach on Little Sandy Bottom Pond or keep the closure in place until after testing results are received.
