A Brockton man is facing charges after he crashed into a rock wall.

East Bridgewater Police say that shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 18, Bedford St. near the town center.

The license plate was entered as a stolen vehicle from Raynham in the criminal justice information system.

The vehicle fled the scene down Route 18 onto Union St. before crashing into a rock wall on Walnut St.

The driver fled the scene on foot and officers began a search with mutual aid being provided by Whitman, West Bridgewater and the State Police.

Officers called off the search around 4 a.m. but by locating information at the crashed vehicle scene they were able to identify the suspect as 18-year-old Jamar Reverdes.

During the course of their investigation officers also located items, including a credit card, that were stolen during a recent car and a house break on Ashley Dr. in East Bridgewater.

Investigators later spotted Reverdes at a North Central St. address and took him into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Brockton District Court on charges of Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle; Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Failure to Stop for a Police officer; Receiving Stolen Property Under $1,200.00; Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage; Marked Lanes Violation; Fail to Signal Vehicle for Turn; Malicious Destruction of Property Under $1,200; Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle; and Speeding.
