Rockland: State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of this weekend’s fatal motorcycle crash on Route 3.

State troopers responded Sunday around 1:30 a.m. to a report of incident involving two vehicles just after Exit 14 in Rockland.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2013 Ford F150 was traveling on Route 3 southbound in the right travel lane when it was struck from behind by a 2006 Suzuki GSXR600 which was also traveling on Route 3 southbound in the right travel lane.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old man from Hanover, was determined to be deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.. The operator of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old man from Bourne, suffered no injury.

Route 3 southbound was shut down for nearly three hours, as traffic was diverted off onto exit 14. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
