East Bridgewater Paramedics were called to the aid of a gunshot victim.

East Bridgewater Fire officials say the Fire Department’s ambulance was returning from Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

As they were driving along Route 24 South they were flagged down in West Bridgewater by a group of people parked in the breakdown lane.

They pulled over and were approached by a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Paramedics immediately tended to the 44-year-old man and took him to Good Samaritan Medical Center.

A vehicle by the side of the highway had a shattered passenger-side window and apparent gunshot holes in the passenger door.

The shooting remains under investigation but the Plymouth district attorney’s office says it does not appear to be a random act of violence.

Officials say the paramedics did not witness the shooting.
