Hingham: Police Investigating Restaurant Break-In

Hingham Police are investigating a restaurant break-in.

Police say that at 6:15 a.m. Sunday officers were sent to the Scarlet Oak Tavern on Main St.

They were called after employees arriving for work discovered that the business had been broken into.

It was discovered by officers that alarm wires outside had been cut and that entry had been made by removing several cinder blocks from the basement.

Officers also found an office door that had been forced open.

Police say the suspects attempted to open the safe but were unsuccessful and it’s unclear what was taken.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone who noticed any vehicles or people in the area (near Whiting Street/Route 53 and Queen Anne’s Corner in Norwell) between 12:45 a.m.-6:15 a.m. is being asked to call Det. Daniel Leary at 781-741-1443.
