Plymouth: Board of Health Meeting with Pinehills President

Pine Hills, a planned development within the Town of Plymouth, is on the agenda at tonight’s meeting of the Board of Health, specifically to report on the operation of its water treatment facility.

Pine Hills is a community of just over 4,000 people, and this community includes multiple golf courses. Dr. Nate Horwitz Willis, the town’s Director of Public Health says, when you have a water treatment facility processing that amount of water that is being discharged into the environment, the question is…

“…how is this effluent or water being discharged into the environment being treated, and what are the potential implications based how they are treating that water, to the environment and to the public health?”

Dr. Nate adds members of the public have questions about…

…. how this water is basically being discharged into the watershed, and in the ponds, in the streams and any other small bodies of water in the area.”

And, one of those ponds is Bartlett Pond, closed by town officials last summer due to contamination of the dangerous cyano bacteria.

Dr Nate calls tonight’s meeting an important one because, in addition to John Judge, President of Pine Hills, LLC…

“…septic engineers and installers have been invited to come in addition to White Horse Beach Workgroup members

and, again, the public at large, who are concerned and have not been educated about their own watershed.”

The meeting begins tonight at 7 at Town Hall in the Rope Walk room.
