Braintree: Fire Damages River Street Home

A Braintree home sustains roughly $150,000 in damage following a Friday afternoon fire.

Fire officials tell WATD News that the fire took place around 12:13 p.m. at 131 River St. when a resident realized there was a fire and shut the door of the room where the incident was taking place and fled to a neighbor’s house with the home’s other two occupants where they called 9-1-1.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was put down and mutual aid was provided by surrounding communities including Boston, Randolph, Quincy, and Weymouth.

It has been determined that the fire was caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.
