Hingham: Two Men Arrested On Drug Charges

Two men are facing charges following a drug investigation in Hingham.

Hingham Police say they along with the Massachusetts State Police, were conducting an investigation into drug sales.

During the course of the investigation a plainclothes Hingham Police Officer met two men who arrived in a car in a secluded area of Fottler Rd. around 6 p.m. on November 20th.

The officer purchased a bag which was suspected of containing heroin or fentanyl from one of the men.

The two men, 30-year-old Michael Cruz-Perez of Mattapan and 41-year-old Jason R. Belmarsh of Hull, were arrested at the scene and charged with Distribute Class A Substance and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Act.

A search of the car was conducted by Hingham Narcotics K9 “Pablo” where detectives found two containers.

Police say the first container 7 baggies containing powdered and crack cocaine inside and the second container had 8 baggies that also contained powdered and crack cocaine.

A total of 13 grams of cocaine were found and the car and $840.00 were also seized.

Cruz-Perez posted $2,000 cash bail and was released.

Belmarsh posted $750 cash bail and was released.

Both men were arraigned November 21 at Hingham District Court.

Belmarsh is scheduled to return to court December 5 while Cruz-Perez is scheduled to return to court January 3.

Police say additional charges will be sought after further testing showed the bag sold to the Officer contained mostly fentanyl and the additional cocaine was found.
