Norwell: Town Looking to Be More Involved in Hanover Mall Redevelopment

The Norwell Board of Selectmen discussed the future of the Hanover Mall at Wednesday night’s meeting.

Board members stressed that Norwell has an interest in the proposed development because a piece of the property belongs to the town.

Norwell collects over a million dollars per year in property taxes on the portion owned by the town and wants to be more involved in what happens to the site.

Chairman of Norwell’s Board of Selectmen Ellen Allan says more meetings with the developers are in the works.

However Norwell Selectman Joe Rull feels the town should put a stop to the development until all the issues are worked out.

The owners of the mall will meet with the Hanover Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, January 3rd for a decision over a height variance.
