Quincy: MVA Knocks Over Utility Pole, Causes Power Outages

Approximately 1,600 Quincy residents were without power for several hours Sunday, after a motor vehicle accident collided with a utility pole.

 According to the Quincy Fire Department, the accident was reported Sunday around 7 a.m. in the vicinity of 495 Washington Street. The vehicle snapped the pole which caused it to fall into a group of electrical wires.

 The operator was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Quincy Police. National Grid was also called to the scene remove the utility pole and restore power to the affected area.
