Halifax: Town Meeting Article Proposes Plastic Bag Ban, Budget Items on Warrant Tonight

This spring, town meetings have adopted a variety of restrictive zoning, some pot shop proponents calling it de facto banning. Such zoning requires the planning board hold a public hearing and vote to support it prior to town meeting. The Halifax Planning Board scheduled such a hearing at 6 PM Monday night and 25 people showed up. Only one member of the planning board was present so without a quorum the board could take no action before Town Meeting convened at 7:30 PM.

Halifax Town Meeting reconvenes tonight at 7:30 in the elementary school. The warrant includes budget items in addition to those passed Monday and a proposed ban of plastic bags.
