Milton: Deval Patrick’s Brother-In-Law Convicted Of Rape

A Milton man, and brother-in-law of former Governor Deval Patrick, has been found guilty of rape and other offenses.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey says that 67-year-old Bernard Sigh was convicted Thursday of charges including rape, stalking, kidnapping, and witness intimidation.

The charges stem from a 2017 incident in which Sigh was accused of hiding in a woman’s closet, grabbing her when she tried to run away, and assaulting her.

Sentencing in this case is scheduled for June 24.

Morrissey says Sigh could face up to 20 years in state prison on the rape convictions and a minimum-mandatory sentence of 1 year for the conviction on stalking in violation of a 209A protective order.

Prior to this incident Sigh pleaded guilty to spousal rape while living in California in 1993 and served time in prison before moving to Massachusetts.
