Duxbury: Drive-on Section of Beach Estimated to be Closed Until End of July

Duxbury’s drive-on beach may not re-open until the end of the month.

Last weekend during the July 4th holiday all three crossovers were completely closed due to the protected piping plovers.

Duxbury Town Manager Rene Read says it gave the town only one option.

Read says the plovers have to be able to fly before the drive-on beach can re-open.

Officials are estimating it may take until the end of July for the Plovers to clear out but the main parking lot is still open for residents and non-residents with stickers.
