Weymouth: Legislation Aims at Heavy Oversight of Air Pollution at Compressor Station Sites

Opponents of the proposed compressor station in Weymouth are fighting the project now, but are also considering the long-term fight as they support legislation today in the State House that will require heavy oversight of air pollution at compressor station sites.

Alice Arena, the Executive Director of the Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station-or FRRACS explains

Arena says these compressor stations give off a lot of toxins that are not being considered by the Department of Environmental Protection and this legislation would require the DEP to oversee the air quality monitoring stations.

Arena explains what to do if you want to get involved…

A panel from the FRAACS group as well as a Hingham Group who opposes the project will be testifying today in front of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy.
