Scituate: Town Officials and Residents Brainstorm the Revision of Master Plan

Participants in a workshop on revising Scituate’s Master Plan left uttering a phrase normally not applied to planning and zoning, ‘that was fun.’ Organizers had asked them to prioritize issues regarding the town, a standard first step in planning. But they did so using an electronic voting system like the ones used by some town meetings. Everyone saw the results immediately, expressed in percentages. One thing a majority agreed on is that not enough people participate.

The planning board and master plan committee will sponsor more workshops throughout the fall.
