Hingham: Former NHL Player Appears In Court

A man accused of harassing the Scituate Police Chief appeared in Hingham District Court Tuesday.

William Tibbetts, a former NHL player and former Selectman candidate, plead not guilty in June during his arraignment on two counts of criminal harassment.

He was ordered to stay away from the chief and the chief’s sister and not to post negative comments about them on social media.

However, police say he violated the order by posting videos on Instagram which included him swearing and verbally attacking the victims causing his bail to be revoked.

Beth Stone, a spokeswoman for the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, tells WATD News that during Tuesday’s court appearance motions to dismiss were argued and the Judge took them under advisement.

Stone says Tibbetts continues to be held.

His next court appearance is scheduled for September 19.
