Brockton: Death of Abington Family Ruled as Murder/Suicide

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the deaths of an Abington family as a murder/suicide.

In the cases of 40-year-old Deirdre Zaccardi and her three children, the cause of death was determined to be homicide by firearm.

Zaccardi, her 11 year-old daughter Alexis Zaccardi, and 9-year-old twins Nathaniel and Kathryn Zaccardi were found dead by police at their home on 135 Centre Ave Monday.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the cause of death for the father, 43-year-old Joseph Zaccardi, was suicide by a gunshot wound.

The investigation is still ongoing by State Police assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Abington Police.
