Brockton: Ribbon Cutting For City’s Newest Transit-oriented Development

Brockton celebrates the completion of another project in the city center, this time it’s the conversion of the former Department of Transitional Assistance office into market-rate housing.

State and local officials gathered at 75 Commercial Street as a ribbon cutting was held to recognize the completion of the city’s latest project which is now known as Commercial Station.

Nick Giaquinto, Chief of Staff for Mayor Moises Rodrigues, says the newest development is another option for those seeking affordable housing located near the commuter rail.

The three-story building features commercial space on the ground floor and 24 one-bedroom units on the upper levels.

In attendance during the event was Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito. She took a moment to applaud the city on its efforts to add market-rate housing.
