Marshfield: Santa Arrives at the Harbor Pier on Sunday

Santa Claus is coming to the Marshfield Harbor Pier at 11 a.m. this Sunday to kick off the holiday season.

Harbormaster Mike DiMeo says this is the 7th year that Santa will arrive by sea. He says the event gets bigger and better each year.

“It’s really the community and all the volunteers, people that are donating their time, donating food and resources – that’s what truly makes the event,” said DiMeo. “I’m very thankful for that and that echoes the support from the Police Department, the Harbormaster’s Department, and Fire Department. The airport also donates decorations and things like that. It’s a true community event.”

He says there’s going to be cookies, hot chocolate, and food for everyone. There will be a stuff-a-truck toy drive from the Marshfield Police.

DeMeo says Haddad’s Ocean Café, Friends of Peter Igo Park, the Marshfield Kiwanis, Bob Shine from Shinetti’s Grill, and Family Crest Catering have been key supporters in making the event a successful one.

Mary Sullivan and Mike Walsh are putting together the lobster pot Christmas tree, which will lit up by the Maritime Center.

“It can’t happen at a better time or at better location. The new Maritime Center is phenomenal – it’s a true focal point of the community,” said DiMeo. “It’s a great time for people to come down, see the building, see what’s going on down here with the Harborwalk, the Harbor Park.”

Santa arrives at the Harbor Pier on Sunday at 11 a.m. and will be there until 12:30 p.m.
