A Quincy home is decimated following a three alarm fire on Friday.

The fire was first reported around 3:30 p.m. at 207 Winthrop St. and Fire Captain Steven Baylis tells WATD News that crews had to change tactics to deal with the fire.

One person was taken to Mass General Hospital after apparently receiving burns on his hand.

Patti Nichol, a neighbor who lives nearby said the victim told her the injury occurred while he was changing a battery.

A cat was also rescued during the incident but there is no word on its condition.

The home sustained an estimated $700,000 in damage and is considered a total loss.
