Two men are facing charges following a traffic stop in Brockton.

Massachusetts State Police say that just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday Troopers observed a white GMC Terrain with heavily tinted windows speeding on Warren Ave.

During the traffic stop troopers spoke with the driver, 32-year-old Antonio Veiga of Brockton, who said the GMC was a rental vehicle in someone else’s name to which he did not have a contract.

State Police say the passenger, 24-year-old Manuel Duarte also of Brockton, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was moving around strangely.

The two men were removed from the vehicle at which time the troopers located a loaded .45 caliber Hi Point pistol in the glove box.

The remaining passengers were ordered to show their hands and removed one at a time; none of the vehicle’s occupants had a license to carry firearms.

They were allowed to leave however; Veiga and Duarte were placed under arrest.

Veiga was charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm; Possession of a Firearm; and Firearm Violation with Prior Violent/Drug Crimes.

Duarte was charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm; and Possession of a Firearm.

It was also discovered that Duarte had an active felony warrant for his arrest for Armed Robbery, Intimidating a Witness, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Veiga has prior convictions for Armed Robbery and Kidnapping, along with several related offenses.
