Quincy: Man Allegedly Approached Juvenile Girls

Update at noon 1/14/2020:

A man accused of accosting juvenile females in Quincy has been arrested.

Quincy Police say 20-year-old Benjamin Chen heard about the news coverage and turned himself in a short time later.

Chen is accused of approaching underage girls and making inappropriate remarks at one point running towards one of the victims.

Chen is being charged with Enticing a Minor, Accosting a person of the opposite sex, and Soliciting sex for a fee.

Quincy Police are investigating incidents where a male approached juvenile girls.

Police say the first incident was reported on Coddington St. at approximately 4:30 p.m. on January 9 where the victim reported that an Asian male approached her and made inappropriate remarks.

Another victim says she was also approached by an Asian male roughly a half hour before the other incident while she was walking on Taffrail Rd. by Palmer St.

This victim said the male had approached her before in the same area where he made vulgar remarks then ran towards her and her friends, before stopping a very short distance from his vehicle.

The suspect is described as an Asian male as being in his 20′s, wearing glasses, with acne and a thin mustache.

In one incident he was reported to be driving an older model, gray four door car with scratches. In the other incident he was reported to be driving a green SUV similar to a Jeep.

Police are asking parents to discuss with their children the appropriate actions to take if someone makes them feel uncomfortable or frightened and that they should tell a trusted adult immediately.
