Three contested races were decided in Carver’s Annual Town Election.
For the Select Board, unofficial results have write-in candidate Jim Hoffman earning the most votes with 516.
Hoffman says he disagreed with the process on the hiring of the new Town Administrator and decided to run. He’s thankful for the support.
“It’s unbelievable. I’ve been living in Carver for 30 years and I called on a lot of people. The biggest thing is, everybody has a lot of support, but you have to get them to show up to the polls. A lot of people don’t show up to vote,” said Hoffman. “I tried to call as many people to vote and I think that’s what did it.”
Planning Board member Jennifer Bogart was elected to the Select Board with 319 votes. She says it’s a time of transition in town and thinks she can make a difference.
“My platform was always unity in the community. Not just the frilly stuff, but there’s so much division with everything in town,” said Bogart. “My big things are: to live in a town you want to be able to afford to live here and you want to live here. I think both those things need to be worked on.”
Helen Marrone had 309 votes, Cornelius Shea III had 265 votes, and Kathryn Bandzul had 219 votes.
Stephanie Clougherty was re-elected to the School Committee with 406 votes, Jennifer Pratt was elected with 704 votes, and Sundrie Persons had 42 votes.
Mary Dormer was elected to the Housing Authority with 405 votes. Donna Forand had 397 votes.
In the uncontested races, Marie Zweigman and Sharon Clarke were re-elected as Library Trustees.
Ellen Blanchard was re-elected to the Board of Assessors, Eric Mueller was re-elected to the Board of Health, Stephen Romano was re-elected to the North Carver Water Commission, and John Gaskey was re-elected to the Planning Board.
