Two Weymouth Catholic schools are forming a partnership.
The Archdiocese of Boston has announced that Sacred Heart School in Weymouth Landing and St. Francis Xavier School in South Weymouth will create the partnership that will see Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4 being taught at Sacred Heart and Grades 5 through 8 being taught at St. Francis Xavier School.
Archdiocesan officials say the partnership will be overseen by St. Francis Xavier principal Robert Murphy as headmaster and Scared Heart teacher Shannon Mazza who will serve as vice-principal.
There will also be a shared Board that will include outgoing Sacred Heart Principal Dr. Gretchen Hawley and Fr. Charlie Higgins, who will leave his pastorship of the Collaborative of St. Francis Xavier and St. Albert the Great Parishes in September.
This also comes as the Archdiocese announced the closure of St. Jerome School, citing a drop in enrollment due to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic fall out.
